Pre-Calculus BC 402101H Honors Career Ed, Elective, Advanced Math (*for Pre 9th Grade Algebra/Geometry students) In Honors Pre-Calculus BC, students will study advanced concepts in preparation for AP Calculus BC. All students should regularly be engaged in the Standards for Mathematical Practice as defined by Common Core. Mathematical content should be addressed through the study of big ideas allowing students to see the connections between multiple concepts. Topics could include: Parametrics; Relations and Transformations; Rates of Change; Sequences and Series; Counting and Probability; Inductive Proof; Exponential, Logarithmic, Logistic, Radical and Rational Functions; Triangle Trigonometry; Unit Circle Trigonometry; Trigonometric Identities and Equations; Polar Graphing; Vectors; Complex; Theory of Equations; Conic Sections; and Markov Chains.
In an honors class, students will be expected to develop more advanced problem-solving methods and precisely communicate their in-depth understanding of the mathematical concepts covered. Students will also be asked to make connections across mathematical ideas while justifying their thinking and strategies. Successful completion of Honors Pre-Calculus BC will prepare students to continue their study of mathematics by taking future honors or AP coursework in mathematics.
