Participants will use prior knowledge to relate frequency of idiophones to a xylophone. Students will explore the Equal Tempered chromatic scale built of 12 equal spaced semitones, and the mathematics background behind it. Then they will sample a copper pipe of a specific length, measure the frequency it produces, and with this information they will calculate the length of eight pipes that will produce the frequencies of a well tune diatonic scale to produce a xylophone.
